Stripe Young Scientist 2026

It all begins with an idea.

I was grateful to be selected for my second Stripe Young Scientist Exhibition in January of 2026, where I presented my project, “GeoGuard: Geofencing Technology to Detect and Prevent Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing in Irish Waters.” This was the first time presenting GeoGuard in a science competition.

It was such an incredible event and meeting the judges and guests to talk about our projects is such a cool experience. I felt incredibly privilged to be able to present my project in the exhibtion and show people the real world change it can make.

Unfortunately this year I did not pick up any awards, however, I have a lot more contacts to further develop my product and integrate it into the Irish government fishing monitoring system. These include poloticians who can lobby my product into the Irish monitoring system, fishermen and also Python Ireland personell - all people who can help bring my technology into existence.

Many thanks to all of the Stripe Blue coats who helped deliver such a high quality exhibition and for my teacher and family for their help. Also thanks to Niall O’Sullivan for helping me with the technicals of demo. It was an incredible event and congratulations to Stripe for hosting it so well.
